形态描述
体长而侧扁，头后明显隆起，往后略平。头平扁、吻圆钝。眼小，为皮脂膜所盖，位头的前半部。口呈浅弧形，上、下颌约等长。颌齿绒毛状。须2对，颌须伸达胸鳍末端，颏至胸鳍基后端。鳃膜游离。体无鳞。侧线平直。无背鳍；臀鳍条65—66；胸鳍末端超过臀鳍起点，腹鳍小；尾鳍深分叉，下叶长。生活时全体银白闪亮，各鳍半透明

They are a kind of carnivorous fish living in the rivers and lakes of the plains in the belt of rainforestsof the Oriental Region. Ordinarily they live in rivers and lakes but when these are flooded in rainy season they also go to swamps and marshes. They are small in size
